Celebrate 55 Years of Sazae-san with Special Programming

Introduction to Sazae-san’s 55th Anniversary

In celebration of the 55th anniversary of the beloved anime “Sazae-san“, a special week of programming will take place from November 25 to December 1. This event will feature a variety of shows related to the iconic series, which first aired in 1969 and has become a staple of Japanese culture.

Special Programming Schedule

  • From November 25 to 29, a selection of classic episodes will be aired in a 10-minute slot at 6:50 PM, titled “Celebrating 55 Years: Autumn Masterpieces”. This will include memorable episodes such as “Why Don’t You Close It?” from November 26, 1972, and “Wakame’s Winter Preparations” from November 27, 2005, showcasing the transition into winter.
  • On November 26 at 7:00 PM, a two-hour special titled “National Anime Festival: 55th Anniversary Special” will be broadcast. Hosted by Akira Kawashima and Yuki Uchida, this program will highlight selected classic episodes from the show’s history. Notably, the “Tuesday Sazae-san” segment, which aired weekly until 1997, will make a comeback after 27 years, featuring three episodes from November 26, 1985: “It’s All Understood”, “The Autumn Battle of the Namihei Couple”, and “It’s Getting Chilly”, complete with a unique opening and ending.
  • Finally, on December 1 at 6:00 PM, a one-hour “Sazae-san 55th Anniversary Special” will air, focusing on the members of the Isono family: Sazae, Katsuo, Wakame, Tarao, Fune, Masuo, Namihei, and Tama, with a total of seven episodes to enjoy.

This week-long celebration promises to be a nostalgic journey for fans of all ages, highlighting the enduring legacy of “Sazae-san” and its impact on Japanese animation and culture.
