Look Back at the 11th Shinchitose Airport International Animation Festival

The 11th Shinchitose Airport International Animation Festival was held from November 1 to 5, 2024. On November 4, we had a special talk titled “Making of: Look Back” featuring director Kiyotaka Oshiyama, discussing the background of the film that won the Jury Special Award in the long feature category. The film “Look Back” has been a massive hit, grossing over 2 billion yen and is now available for streaming on Amazon Prime.

During the talk, Oshiyama shared insights into adapting Fujimoto Tatsuki’s original work into animation. He emphasized the importance of respecting the original artwork while making adjustments for animation. The film’s unique visual style, including the use of reflections and light, was a significant focus during production.
