Exciting Collaboration: Cells at Work x KIRIN
Collaboration Announcement
The popular anime “Cells at Work” has teamed up with Kirin Beverage for a special project titled “Let My Cells Work,” starting from December 2, 2024. Based on the TV anime visuals, original characters “Plasma Lactobacillus” and “pDC (Plasmacytoid Dendritic Cell)” have been introduced in a special video available on the campaign’s dedicated website.
Special Campaign Details
- Duration: December 2, 2024 – December 26, 2024
- Purchase eligible Kirin Beverage drinks containing “Plasma Lactobacillus” for a chance to win prizes.
- Prizes include the “Cells at Work” Blu-ray Disc BOX and original QUO cards.
The original manga, created by Akane Shimizu, was serialized in Kodansha’s “Monthly Shonen Sirius” and features anthropomorphized cells, which garnered significant attention for its innovative and unique concept. The second season, “Cells at Work!!,” aired in 2021, along with a spin-off titled “Cells at Work: BLACK,” which was also adapted into an anime in the same year.
Upcoming Live-Action Film
A live-action film adaptation of “Cells at Work” is set to be released on December 13, 2024. The special video created exclusively for this collaboration, titled “Cells at Work Immunity Cell Encyclopedia – How Plasma Lactobacillus Supports the Immune Function of Healthy Individuals,” illustrates how the character “Plasma Lactobacillus” operates within the body.
Character Design and Voice Cast
In the video, “Plasma Lactobacillus” activates the “pDC (Plasmacytoid Dendritic Cell),” which serves as the command center for the immune system. This activation leads to the stimulation of various immune cells, including NK cells, B cells, killer T cells, and helper T cells. The character designs for beneficial bacteria like lactobacillus are depicted in a cute, round shape, while harmful pathogens are illustrated as monsters.
The voice of the “Plasmacytoid Dendritic Cell” is provided by Nobuhiko Okamoto, who voiced the “Dendritic Cell” in the TV anime, with narration by Mamiko Noto, maintaining consistency for fans of the series.
Participation in the Campaign
From December 2 to December 26, 2024, customers purchasing eligible Kirin Beverage products can enter a lottery to win prizes such as the “Cells at Work” Blu-ray Disc BOX, a complete set of the “Cells at Work” comics, or a 1000 yen Pay gift card.
