The event featured special guests from three Gundam series: Tomokazu Seki (Domon Kasshu from “Mobile Fighter G Gundam”), Hikaru Midorikawa (Heero Yuy from “Mobile Suit Gundam Wing”), and Wataru Takagi (Garrod Ran from “After War Gundam X”). The lighting will continue daily until February 16, 2025, marking the start of a day filled with exciting events.

During the lighting ceremony, Seki and Takagi expressed their awe at seeing the full-scale Gundam for the first time. Seki remarked, “I avoided looking at it until today. I was moved by its power!” Takagi added, “It’s so big that I wonder how you would get into the cockpit!” Midorikawa humorously noted that he wouldn’t want to go up even if a lift was provided.

Lighting Ceremony and Special Messages

As the ceremony progressed, the three guests participated in a special screening and talk show before the lighting. They also visited the Gundam Side-F store, where they handed out Gunpla models to fans. The excitement built up as they prepared to light up the statue. With a playful comment from Midorikawa about the dangers of pressing the switch, the moment finally arrived. Together, they pressed the switch, illuminating the full-scale Nu Gundam in its iconic tricolor, creating a magical atmosphere in Fukuoka’s night sky.

Seki expressed a desire for more Gundam statues in Kyushu, while Midorikawa humorously requested a Wing Gundam in his hometown of Tochigi.
