Star Wars Visions Volume 3 Set for 2025 Release

The beloved sci-fi franchise “Star Wars” is set to expand its universe with the announcement of “Star Wars Visions Volume 3,” which will be available on Disney+ in 2025. This short anthology series showcases the incredible talents of Japan’s top animation studios, and the announcement was made during the ongoing “Disney Content Showcase 2024” in Singapore. A total of nine studios will be involved in the production, marking a significant return to Japan, a creative hub for the franchise.

Japanese Influence on Star Wars

Originally inspired by Japanese mythology and the films of Akira Kurosawa, “Star Wars Visions” has provided a platform for Japanese animators to present unique and free-spirited stories that diverge from the established canon. The first volume featured seven Japanese studios, while the second volume expanded to include studios from Spain, Ireland, Chile, South Korea, France, India, South Africa, and the UK, resulting in a diverse array of short films.
