Winter Lighting Ceremony for Full-Scale Nu Gundam

On November 24, 2024, the lighting ceremony for the “Winter Limited 24-25 Version” of the full-scale Nu Gundam statue was held at Mitsui Shopping Park LaLaport Fukuoka Forest Park. The event featured special guests from the Gundam series, including Tomokazu Seki (Domon Kasshu), Hikaru Midorikawa (Heero Yuy), and Wataru Takagi (Garrod Ran), who celebrated the start of the lighting display that will run daily until February 16, 2025.

The day was filled with excitement as the guests reflected on their experiences with the Gundam franchise. Seki expressed his awe at the statue’s grandeur, stating, “I had avoided seeing it until today. I was moved by its power!” Takagi reminisced about a scene from “Gundam X” and how the statue’s size made him think about the logistics of getting into the cockpit. Midorikawa humorously noted that he would be too scared to go up even if a lift were provided.

Lighting Ceremony and Special Messages

As the ceremony progressed, the guests participated in a special screening event titled “Gundam G, W, X 30th Special Screening” followed by a talk show and lottery. They also engaged with fans at the Gundam Side-F store, where they handed out Gunpla models. The lighting ceremony culminated with the three guests pressing the switch to illuminate the statue in its iconic tricolor colors, creating a magical atmosphere in Fukuoka.

Details of the Lighting Display

The lighting display will take place daily from 7:00 PM to 9:00 PM, featuring various Gundam-themed shows and animations. The new wall projection “Mobile Suit Gundam ALC ENCOUNTER” will also be showcased, adding to the festive atmosphere.

From November 30, 2024, to January 13, 2025, visitors can participate in the “Gundam Park Gachapon Lottery Challenge” for a chance to win exclusive prizes. To enter, guests must present a receipt of 1,000 yen or more from participating stores.
