Understanding the Layers of Elbaf
Elbaf Island, home to theWarlond Kingdom, has gradually revealed its secrets. What lies at the top of the giant treasure tree, Adam? The key issue is the location of thecastle, and the looming presence of the boss enemy in the Elbaf arc adds to the intrigue…
The Three Layers Representing Morning, Noon, and Night
Elbaf is the name of the island, and it houses a nation known as theWarlond Kingdom. According to Loki, the towering treasure tree, Adam, itself is theWarlond Kingdom. Elbaf consists of three layers: theHeavenly Realm, theSunlit Realm, and theUnderworld. TheUnderworldcorresponds to the surface of Elbaf Island, while the other two layers are situated atop the treasure tree, Adam. Thus, all of these layers are part of theWarlond Kingdom. TheUnderworldis perceived by the giant race of Elbaf as being “on the roots of the treasure tree, Adam.” This is why theWarlond Kingdomis considered to be “the treasure tree itself.” In the middle layer, theSunlit Realm, reside characters like Dorry and Brogy, and it is here that the Straw Hat crew visited one of the villages.
The Mythology of Elbaf
In Chapter 1131, Loki describes theUnderworldas the “First World,” referring to it as the “world where the sun has died.” In Chapter 1132, Dorry describes theSunlit Realmas the “realm where the sun shines.” This gives us clues about the positioning of theHeavenly Realm. TheHeavenly Realmcan be interpreted as the “world where the sun is resurrected!” Elbaf celebrates a festival known as theWinter Solstice Festival, which symbolizes the “death and resurrection of the sun.” Therefore, if theUnderworldrepresents “death,” then theHeavenly Realmsignifies “resurrection.” The arrangement of the layers can be summarized as follows:
- Heavenly Realm(Third World) – The world where the sun is resurrected (Morning)
- Sunlit Realm(Second World) – The world where the sun shines (Noon)
- Underworld(First World) – The world where the sun has died (Night)
The phrase “the world where the sun has died” represents “night,” and its resurrection signifies “dawn” or “morning.” The intermediate layer, therefore, is the “noon” where the sun shines. However, there is a peculiar feeling about the designation of theUnderworldas the “First World.” If it is the “First World,” then the layer above it should be the “Second World,” and the top layer would be the “Third World.” This arrangement seems odd, as it should logically follow the order of night to morning to noon. Thus, the top layer might actually be the “Second World,” but this is difficult to accept.
The Castle of the Warlond Kingdom
TheHeavenly Realm, being the domain of the gods, is particularly where theSun Godresides. This raises the question of where the royal family of theWarlond Kingdomlives. Is the castle, once ruled by King Harald, located in theHeavenly Realm? It seems more likely that it resides in theSunlit Realm. The castle, a massive structure with cannons visible from afar, does not resemble a mere village. The village visited by Luffy and his crew lacked such artillery.
It is plausible that the royal family of theWarlond Kingdomlives alongside the warriors in theSunlit Realm. This aligns with the ideology of the Elbaf royal family. If theHeavenly Realmis indeed the domain of the gods, then residing there could imply a connection to the Celestial Dragons. However, it seems unlikely that the royal family of Elbaf would build their castle in the realm of the gods. Instead, they might have constructed their castle on a higher branch within theSunlit Realm, living alongside the warriors rather than emulating the gods.
What Lies in the “Heavenly Realm”?
It is likely that theHeavenly Realmhouses theTemple of the Sun God. This is hinted at by the “Adventure of the Block Kingdom.” This temple is distinct from the castle. Within this temple, it is speculated that thelegendary Devil Fruitpassed down through the royal family of Elbaf, which Loki consumed, is stored. This Devil Fruit is connected to theSun Godand has likely been safeguarded within the temple.
Furthermore, it is anticipated that thePoneglyph, which contains the history of the world, is also housed in theHeavenly Realm. These artifacts are believed to be protected at the top layer, theHeavenly Realm. The boss of the Elbaf arc, who was the antagonist in the “Block Kingdom,” may reside in this temple, posing as theSun God. Luffy is expected to confront this falseSun Godin theHeavenly Realm. This leads to the possibility that Loki, who claims to be theSun God, could be a primary candidate for the enemy boss. If Luffy were to free Loki, it raises the question of whether Loki would head to theHeavenly Realm. However, if someone is already occupying the temple in theHeavenly Realm, the situation changes. There may be someone already residing there, and Loki could be deceived by this individual.
Regardless of whether it is Loki or someone else, it is clear that the enemy boss of the Elbaf arc is in theHeavenly Realm, attempting to dominate or control theWarlond Kingdomof Elbaf. We must keep an eye on how this unfolds!
